PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a wide band cholesteric liquid crystal film easily and inexpensively with the thickness of a liquid crystal layer reduced.;SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the wide band cholesteric liquid crystal film has a process for applying a solution prepared by dissolving a cholesteric liquid crystal polymer in a solvent on an alignment base material, a process for aligning the cholesteric spiral axis of the cholesteric liquid crystal polymer to be perpendicular to the alignment base material surface and a process for drying and film forming while keeping the liquid crystal state formed by the orientation. As the cholesteric liquid crystal polymer, a mixture of ≥2 kinds of cholesteric liquid crystal polymers non-compatible with each other and having twist pitch length different each is used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
