WOOD WITH ONE-SIDED RING CORE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING WOOD FROM CRACKING BY DRYING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that the wood is securely prevented from cracking or deforming due to drying, even when its ring core is deviated from the center of the overall shape.;SOLUTION: In the wood with a one-sided ring core having a ring core 11 present at a part of its crosssection, two or more slits 13 and 13 are formed each on two counterwood faces 12 and 12 positioned across the centerline of the overall shape in the crosssection. The two or more slits 13 and 13 are aligned with a space interposed in between in an orthogonal direction (transversal direction) with a fiber direction (longitudinal direction), forming longitudinal grooves extending in the fiber direction (longitudinal direction) respectively. Two slits of the two or more slits 13 and 13 are symmetrically formed on both sides of the center line on the wood face 12 so as to find the two slits positioned at both sides of the flat grain part 12a. Thus it is possible to prevent the wood with a one-sided ring core having the ring core 11 one-sided from the center of the overall shape from cracking due to drying, while a conventional back split method does not sufficiently prevent the cracking from developing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
