PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move and stop a mover or a movable body backward after it is driven and stopped, and thereby determine the initial magnetic pole position and eliminate erroneous recognition of stop based on a machine end. PSOLUTION: The detecting method for the magnetic poles of a linear servo motor and the detecting method for the magnetic poles of the servo motor of a linear actuator are such that a magnetic pole detecting current is applied to actuate the mover (13) or movable body (43). Thereafter, it is moved backward and stopped, and that stop position is taken as the initial magnetic pole position. Thus, erroneous recognition is eliminated. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
