PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid coil structure, which can realize a denser pitch between the channels, lesser space per channel and higher performance than by conventional pancake coil design.;SOLUTION: A magnetic head used for a magnetic recording medium includes a top write magnetic pole, which is used when information is recorded on the magnetic recording medium, and the solenoid coil structure, which has a lower coil layer placed below the top write magnetic pole and an upper coil layer placed above the top write magnetic pole. The upper coil layer and the lower coil layer are insulated from the top write magnetic pole.
