PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel support rod system provided with communication method for transmitting and receiving various necessary information using multiple spot beacons.;SOLUTION: This travel support road system is provided with a roadside communication system, which arranges the spot beacons successively at short intervals along a road and totally controls them by using a processor, and is further provided with the communication method, having a request information importance ranking function of giving ranks according to the importance of the request information, an information gathering function of gathering information from a monitor device and an information providing system; a transmittable information amount calculating function of calculating a transmittable information amount, by finding a communicable time for which a vehicle is able to communicate, before exiting a communication zone from vehicle information, past passing vehicle information, etc., a transmit information comparing and selecting function of making a choice according to the importance; and the function of transmitting the vehicle information from the same spot beacon to the object vehicle, when it receives the vehicle information by regarding the information selected by the transmit information comparison and selection functions as travel support information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
