PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper-coating composition having excellent fluidity at a high shear rate and giving coated paper having excellent wet pick strength, blister resistance and gloss.;SOLUTION: The paper-coating composition is produced by mixing a pigment with a copolymer latex obtained by the emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture composed of (A) 20-70 wt.% aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, (B) 0.5-10 wt.% ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (C) 20-79.5 wt.% copolymerizable other monomer in the presence of a reactive emulsifier for paper-coating latex composed of a compound (I) expressed by general formula (I) and a compound (II) expressed by general formula (II) (R1 is an 8-30C alkyl; R2 is H or methyl; A is a 2-4C alkylene; (n) is an integer of 0-200; and X is hydrogen or a substituent expressed by formulas (a) to (e)).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
