PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera and an image data transmission/reception system which eliminates necessity of devices which intermediate and are irrelevant to a transmission destination upon transmitting image data to the devices connected to a local area network (LAN), and which realizes labor savings in a specifying operation of the transmitting destination by a user. PSOLUTION: A digital camera 1 is provided with an external storage device 12 storing image data, a communication device 15 connected to a LAN and performing a data communication, and a controller 10 controlling the devices. The controller 10 transmits inquiring data by a broadcast to the LAN by the external storage device 12, extracts an IP address of the device which transmits response data upon receiving the response data for the inquiring data from the device connected to the LAN, and transmits image data stored in the external storage device 12 to the device having the extracted IP address.
