PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining activated carbon from woody biomass which is excellent in the quality of the obtained activated carbon without requiring a wide space for equipment arrangement. PSOLUTION: In obtaining the activated carbon by carbonizing and activating the woody biomass B, a treatment apparatus 1 to be switched over to carbonization operation and then to activation operation is provided in which the woody biomass B is carbonized and activated.
