PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide data stream selection output equipment performing the selection output of a data stream prepared on the basis of a DSM-CC protocol to induce no violation of MPEG standards, and techniques relative to the equipment.;SOLUTION: Timing information showing time for changing over output selection is received so that a second data stream different from the previously outputted first data stream may be outputted. The first and the second data stream are scanned in a prescribed time range containing the time to detect the boundaries of sections constituting the respective data streams. The output of the first data stream is completed at the boundary of the section of the detected first data stream.
