PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine and a tail seal replacing method of the shield machine for inexpensively and easily replacing a tail seal in a short time while precisely cutting off water in a skin plate in the middle of work execution of a shield construction method.;SOLUTION: The skin plate 14 of the shield machine is formed as a double cylinder structure composed of a skin plate body part 14a and a slide part 14b. The tail seals 17 and 17t are arranged on the inner peripheral side of a rear end part vicinal position of the skin plate body part 14a for sealing a clearance part C between a segment and the skin plate 14 by sliding with the outer peripheral side of the segment. When sliding the slide part 14b to the rear side, the slide part 14b projects to the rear side more than a position of the tail seals 17 and 17t, and forms a tail extension part 14t for extending the skin plate 14 by the prescribed length so that the water can be cut off by the segment 22 with a bag.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
