PSOLUTION: A moving picture retrieving information recording apparatus which records retrieving information for a moving picture retrieval in a recording medium that is indicated by moving picture data composed of one or more partial portions of a moving picture on a time axis comprises a retrieving information generating part which generates retrieving information corresponding to one or more partial moving pictures based on the moving picture data and a recording part which records retrieving information and information about relation between retrieving information and the moving picture data in the recording medium. The retrieving information generating part includes a first summary information generating means which generates summary information about one or more spatial partial moving pictures obtained by spatially dividing one or more partial moving pictures on a time axis.
