PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize an error in the arrival direction estimation, in estimating the arrival direction of a multiplex wave having period steadiness, using linear prediction and utilizing the time-space characteristic of array receiving data.;SOLUTION: The method is for estimating the arrival direction of the multiplex wave having the period steadiness arriving at an array antenna in which a plurality M of antenna elements are arranged in different spatial positions on a straight line at the same element interval. The plurality M are formed in a plurality of L sub-arrays including m antenna elements overlapping with each other, where 1≤m≤M and L=M-m+1. The linear prediction in forward and backward directions is performed for each sub-array, and a prediction coefficient is obtained by a linear prediction model for the period correlation region obtained from each linear prediction model. The arrival direction of the multiplex wave is obtained from the peak position in the spectrum of prediction polynomial corresponding to the prediction coefficient.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
