PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily take in and run updated software on devices on a network.;SOLUTION: A television 100 has a reception means capable of receiving device identification information and software data by broadcast waves; an acquisition means for acquiring the device identification information of peripheral devices such as a tuner 1300 and a VCR 1400; and a transmission control means which compares the device identification information received via the broadcast waves with the device identification information of the peripheral device and sends the received software data according to the comparison result. The peripheral device includes a sending means for sending the device identification information of its own device in response to a request from the television 100, and a rewriting means for rewriting the current software data into the received software data when software which the television 100 has received by the broadcast waves is received via the network.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
