PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily enable operation with short delay, short delay jitter, large capacity and high scalability (expandability) when performing communication while using a packet.;SOLUTION: Packet transfer control is performed so that, when an optical packet arriving through an optical fiber transmission line is not a packet addressed to a self-inserted/branched multiplexing/demultiplexing node device, this optical packet is passed through the relevant optical node device while being kept as optical packet signal but when the optical packet is a packet addressed to the present node device, this optical packet is fetched after being branched. Therefore, when inserting the optical packet to the optical fiber transmission line, each of optical node devices prepares a label showing information containing an address of the destination node device of that optical packet or route to the destination node device and sends it out earlier than the optical packet corresponding to the optical fiber transmission line for prescribed time by wavelength-multiplexing or polarization-multiplexing this label, this label is received by each of optical node devices and it is decided whether the correspondent packet is a packet addressed to the present node device or not.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
