PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorption/desorption apparatus capable of adsorbing a volatile substance from a gas containing the volatile substance to desorb the volatile substance from the saturated adsorbent, and a adsorption/desorption method for adsorbing the volatile substance from the gas containing the volatile substance using this apparatus to desorb the volatile substance from the saturated adsorbent.;SOLUTION: The adsorption/desorption apparatus for the volatile substance is equipped with a plate-fin type heat exchanger. The adjacent fins of the spaces formed by the plates and fins of the plate-fin type heat exchanger are arranged so as to be shifted in phase by 90° and the spaces are packed with the adsorbent every other layer and made multilayered to be formed into a block state.
