PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for providing the outside of a hard disk drive with error associated information, a hard disk drive, a data processor, and computer peripheral equipment. PSOLUTION: The hard disk drive includes a first interface section which transmits the data reproduced from media to the outside and receives the data recorded to the media from the outside, a hard disk controller which controls the data so as to have the data recorded in the media or reproduced from the media and provides the error information including the kinds of the errors generated in the hard disk drive, a state information management section which manages the error information provided by the hard disk controller and the state information indicative of the operation conditions of the hard disk drive, and a second interface section which outputs the error information and state information provided by the state information management section in case of the occurrence of the error to the outside.
