PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RLL code arrangement method having improved DC component suppressing capability, to provide a modulation/demodulation method and to provide a demodulator.;SOLUTION: A 1, 8, 8, 12 code having DC component suppressing capability is used wherein suppression controllable code group pairs are disposed for controlling DC component suppression of a code string so that the code of a parameter CSV indicating a DC value in a code word of a code corresponding to the same source code in the code group pairs and the feature of a parameter INV for predicting the DSV transition direction of the next code word are arranged opposite to each other.
