PURPOSE:To obviate erroneous detection by noises and distortions and to stably reproduce signals by converting teacher signals recorded in the header part of a recording medium to reproduced signals by using a conversion rule formed by learning. CONSTITUTION:The reference teacher signals formed by a teacher signal generator 3 are recorded in the header part of the recording medium 6 at the time of recording the data. The relations between the results obtd. by detecting the teacher signals of the header part by a detector 7 and the waveforms of the reference teacher signals outputted from the teacher signal generator 3 have learned by a learning type waveform conversion section 2 at the time of reproducing. The conversion rule for exactly reproducing the analog signals detected from the recording medium 6 to the signals used as the basis for the recording is automatically formed and signal conversion is executed. As a result, the signals are stably reproduced without being affected by the noises and differences between the individuals of the recording media. Further, the formed conversion rule is preserved in a memory 4. The conversion rule is loaded from the memory 4 and the relations with the reference teacher signals are learned from the next time to early converge the learning.
