PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sticking feeling or balance feeling in distortion in a solid rod having an outer layer of a fiber-reinforced resin on the outside of a solid core material by using a reinforcing fiber having a specified Young's modulus as most of the reinforcing fiber directed in either one axial direction of the solid core material and the outer layer. SOLUTION: In the manufacture of a sport rod member such as fishing rod, a solid core material 10 is prepared. The core material 10 is thermally molded and cut into a tapered form in which reinforcing fibers are mainly directed in the axial direction. Three kinds of prepreg P1-P3 are successively wound around the core material 10, and thermally molded with pressurization to form a solid rod. The used prepreg P1 has a circumferentially directed reinforcing fiber S2 as a lining and the remainder of an axially directed reinforcing fiber S1. Most of the reinforcing fibers of the prepreg P2 are formed of an axially directed reinforcing fiber S3. As most of the reinforcing fibers S1-S3, a reinforcing fiber having a Young's modulus of 40 ton/mm2 or more is used.
