PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foil for a radial foil bearing to be easily fitted to an outer ring at low cost and capable of forming a radial foil bearing having high performance, and to provide the radial foil bearing using the same.;SOLUTION: This bump foil 7 has a fitting slit for forming a fitting part 5 and a supporting slit 3 for forming a support part 3. The bump foil 7 is elastically deformed to be formed into a cylindrical shape, and a tip of the support part 3 projecting from the cylindrical outer peripheral surface 15 of the bump foil 7 formed into the cylindrical shape is brought in contact with the inner peripheral cylindrical surface 13 of the outer ring 10, and the fitting part 5 projected from the cylindrical outer peripheral surface 15 is engaged with the engagement groove 11 of the outer ring 10.
