PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting apparatus using a supervisory camera for suppressing misdetection caused by a partial and remarkable luminance change due to an effect from an external environment such as an external light.;SOLUTION: The supervisory camera photographs a floor in an elevator room and the object detecting apparatus captures this image. The object detecting apparatus generates a grating pattern 201 corresponding to an object detecting range 100 and superimposes the pattern on a supervised image (superimposing technology). When an external light is directly made incident onto the object detecting range 100 to cause misdetection of an object, the object detecting apparatus revises the detecting range into a range of a grating pattern 202 and detects the object within this detecting range. The object detecting apparatus detects a range 203 greater than the prescribed grating range and having different luminance in this state, detects the object when this state maintains for a prescribed time, and raises an object detecting alarm externally.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
