PURPOSE: To provide a method for forming a copper alloy layer having an easy processability on the surface of ceramics. ;CONSTITUTION: This method consists of applying paste layer of a powdery metalizing component of 5-20μm in thickness on the surface of ceramic, covering the metalizing layer with a copper alloy thin plate of 10-500μm in thickness, subjecting the product to a heat treatment to bind the copper alloy thin plate to the surface of the ceramic through a metalizing layer and forming a copper alloy layer having easy processability on the surface of the ceramic. Another form of the method consists of applying paste layer of powdery metalizing component of 5-20μm in thickness on the surface of ceramic, coating the metalizing layer with a paste layer consisting of copper alloy powder of 10-500μm in thickness, subjecting the product to a heat treatment to convert the applied copper alloy powder paste layer to an easily processable copper alloy layer which is bound to the surface of the ceramic through the metalizing layer. The ceramic material having a copper alloy layer on the surface obtained by the method is easy in fine modifying processing of the surface because the copper alloy is excellent in processability. Further, it keeps the features of ceramics such as low thermal expansion, high stiffness and light weight because of thin thickness of copper alloy layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
