PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new coloring matter salt compound, and to provide a silver halide photographic emulsion and a silver halide photographic photosensitive material each containing the compound. PSOLUTION: The coloring matter salt compound is represented by the general formula_[ wherein, RSP1/SPand RSP2/SPare each a (substituted) alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group, at least one of them being substituted with COOSP-/SP, CONSP-/SPSOSB2/SBRSP3/SP, SOSB2/SBNSP-/SPCORSP3/SP, SOSB2/SBNSP-/SPSOSB2/SBRSP3/SPor CONSP-/SPCORSP3/SP; RSP3/SPis an alkyl, aryl, heterocyclic group, alkoxy, aryloxy, heterocyclyloxy or amino; YSP1/SPand YSP2/SPare each an atom group necessary for forming a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; VSP1/SPand VSP2/SPare each a substituent; nSP1/SPand nSP2/SPare each an integer of 0; LSP1/SPto LSP7/SPare each a methine group; pSP1/SPis 0, 1, 2 or 3; pSP2/SPand pSP3/SPare each 0 or 1; when pSP1/SPis 2 or 3, repeated LSP2/SPand LSP3/SPmay be the same as or different from each other; MSP1/SPis an organic cation; and mSP1/SPis an integer of 1 necessary for neutralizing the electric charges in the compound ].
