PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bed having an impact softening function at the time of fall to prevent an injury from occurring even if a user falls.;SOLUTION: A side panel 3 is turnably mounted on a side frame 2. On the rear surface side of the side panel 3, a holding means 4 is provided. In this case, the holding means 4 holds the side panel 3 to the side frame 2 under a state wherein the lower end side in the longitudinal direction of the side panel 3 is projected to the outside in the width direction of this bed 1. The holding means 4 is constituted of an arc-shape supporting arm 6, a holding base frame 7, and a locking means 8. In this case, the holding base frame 7 is constituted by rockably passing the arc-shape supporting arm 6 through the holding base frame 7. The locking means 8 is constituted by fixing the arc-shaped supporting arm 6 being passed through the holding base frame 7, onto the lower side of the holding base frame 7 at a specified location. The distal end of a locking pin 10 for such a locking means 8 is fitted in lock holes 11 and 11 formed on the distal end side of the arc-shape supporting arm 6 being passed through the holding base frame 7, and in the vicinity of the attached location.
