PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for monitoring automatic test operation of a gas central heating system using a monitor, e.g. a failure diagnostic apparatus, in which the automatic test operation state and the results thereof can be grasped easily for each terminal apparatus.;SOLUTION: The apparatus for monitoring automatic test operation comprises means connected through a communication means with a communication board provided in a heat source machine having means for storing an automatic test operation program, and means for controlling execution of the automatic test operation program and collecting information of terminal apparatus connected with the heat source machine delivered from the communication board through the communication means; a monitor for displaying the name of terminal apparatus collected by the means for collecting information of the terminal apparatus, and means for informing a terminal apparatus subjected to test operation according to the automatic test operation program, selected from the terminal apparatus displayed on the monitor, to the communication board through the communication means, receiving the execution results of automatic test operation program from the communication board and displaying the received execution results on the display.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
