CHROMIUM-FREE BASIC BRICK AND METHOD OF PRODUCING CHROMIUM-FREE BASIC BRICK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide chromium-free basic brick which has slaking resistance comparable to that of magnesia-chromium brick and does not become defective brick in which slaking expansion occurs even when stored in the natural environment over a long period though it is basic brick which does not contain chromium and has high safety and in which any problem does not occur on disposal and the recycling of resources, and to provide a method of producing the same brick.;SOLUTION: The chromium-free basic brick has a composition in which at least the content of MgO is ≥75 mass%, and the content of Cr₂O₃ is ≤0.3 mass%. Provided that the content of CaO in the brick composition is defined as C, and the content of SiO₂ as S, the mass ratio of C/S is ≤1.3.
