PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely measure the angle of a connecting end at an optical connector over the whole region of the connecting end. ;SOLUTION: A connector installation stage 1, to which an optical connector 3 whose connecting end is to be measured is mounted and attached freely detachably via a guide pin 5, is installed. A master reference face 8 which is formed at a known angle with reference to the guide pin 5 is formed at the connector installation stage 1. Both the master reference face 8 and a connecting edge 4 at the optical connector 3 are measured by an optical three- dimensional surface roughness measuring apparatus 9. On the basis of the measured result, an angle which is formed by the master reference face 8 and the connecting end 4 is found by an end-angle detection part 38. On the basis of the value of the angle and on the basis of the value of the known angle at the master reference face 8, the angle of the connecting end 4 at the optical connector with reference to the guide pin 5 is found.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
