GPS receiver (301) obtains the phase of the Gold code and the carrier frequency using a short segment of the received GPS signal. In some embodiments, the segment of the 1-ms of GPS signal varies in frequency domain. Multiplied by a frequency representation of (402) frequency display of gold code which is (402). The product thus produced is converted to the time domain, the peak is detected. Peak position of (406a-d) corresponds to the code position. If there is no (406a-d) peak, the carrier frequency is changed. Half steps and full bottles in the carrier frequency is taken into account. With use of the input signal, a long segment of 16ms or 4, by integrating the 1-ms segment, processing gains are achieved. To compensate for the effects of migration that occurs in segment short GPS signal processing is considered. It is possible that the integration is performed using the synchronous and asynchronous technologies. [Selection Figure Figure 4
