PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the automatic starting of another media application when a terminal having a plurality of communication media is not communicable in a certain medium.;SOLUTION: When a transmission is performed by use of a logic number, a communication media selection device acquires the actual address of a user presence management database in reference to a logic number management database by use of the logic number, and refers to the user presence management database based on the acquired actual address to acquire the actual address of a usable medium of an arrival user. The selection device further selects a medium for performing the communication with the usable medium of an arrival user terminal, and delivers the actual address of the usable medium of the arrival user terminal to an application using the selected medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
