PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly reliably detect the removal of an attachment unit from an article and to prevent the issuing of an alarm only by the slight separation of a part of the attachment unit from the article in a device attached with the attachment unit in a jack connector of the article for monitoring the theft of the article and issuing the alarm according to the attachment state of the attachment unit to the article.;SOLUTION: An article theft monitor comprises by attaching the attachment unit AU2 including a switch 3, a pin 55, and a spring 56 to the article 8. The contact 3c of the switch 3 is opened/closed according to the position of a movable rod 33. The pin 55 is relatively moved to the movable rod 33 in the moving direction of the moving rod 33 and the moving range to the movable rod 33 is restricted. When the pin 55 is pushed to the inside of an attachment surface 42, the movable rod 33 is pushed inward the attachment surface via the spring 56 and the mutual contact resistance between the pin 55 and the inner surface of a hole 81h moves the movable rod 33 to open/close the contact 3c of the switch 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
