PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat treatment device of a superconducting wire rod and a heat treatment method of the superconducting wire rod wherein a high critical current density Jc can be retained homogeneously in the length direction, and in which a superconducting characteristic in the longitudinal direction can be made constant in the superconducting wire rod after the heat treatment. PSOLUTION: A bobbin, around which the superconducting wire rod after insulation covering is wound. is arranged in the interior of an electric furnace 10 in which the interior temperature can be retained at an arbitrary temperature with heating by a heater. Furthermore, a thermocouple to detect the temperature of this wire rod is mounted on the wound superconducting wire rod, and the whole wire rod is covered by a glass fiber. Then, current is supplied to the wound superconducting wire rod by a direct-current power source 12. By this supply-current, the temperature of the heated superconducting wire rod is controlled by a temperature controller 14 so that its temperature may become a prescribed temperature. In other words, the supply-current of the superconducting wire rod by the direct-current power source 12 is controlled by the temperature controller 14 corresponding to the temperature of the superconducting wire rod detected by the thermocouple.
