PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for measuring the distance of a body near a transmission line which can be easily handled by anyone and quickly accurately measured and analyzed by a small number of persons and allows the cost down.;SOLUTION: The system is to specify the location of a tree, etc., near pylons having a known geometry and known locations between which transmission lines laid over and measure the distance between the tree and the transmission line. The measurement comprises inputting two or more images taken from two or more positions, including the pylons and the tree, obtaining transformation equations of the coordinates of the images to the actual spatial coordinates, based on the pylons in each image, obtaining the directions of the image taking positions to the tree in the spatial coordinates, based on the tree in each image, obtaining the actual position of the tree, based on a point of intersection thereof, obtaining transmission line equations, utilizing line type information of the transmission line, and obtaining the distance between the tree and the transmission line.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
