PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a broader band of an ultrasonic prode by arranging at least one of a plurality of vibrators disposed in an array to be made up of first and second piezo-electric monocrystalline parts different in the center frequency and the maximum of the frequency characteristic in the echo sensitivity to restrict the lowering of the signal level. ;SOLUTION: An ultrasonic prode is manufactured by using a zinc niobate lead-lead titanate piezo-electric monocrystalline Pb ((Zn1/3 Nb2/3)1-xTix) O2 (wherein x is 0.05≤x≤0.2). In other words, to obtain a monocrystalline material, PbO, ZnO, Nb2O5 and TiO2 with the purity thereof exceeding about 99.99% are mixed with zinc niobate lead and lead titanate to bring the mol ratio to about 91: about 9 and undergo a heating processing in an electric furnace. The mixture thus obtained is sliced into a wafer with a specified thickness to form a piezo-electric monocrystalline sheet 1 having a part 1a low in transmittance and a part 1b high therein. The plurality of the piezo-electric single crystal sheets 1 are mounted on a packing material 2 to form an ultrasonic probe, thereby obtaining a broad band characteristic.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
