PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method, for the measurement of a viscoelastic characteristic value, in which the viscoelastic characteristic value of even a comparatively soft test piece can be measured precisely.;SOLUTION: This measuring apparatus for a viscoelastic characteristic value is provided with an impact rod 1, an input rod 3 and an output rod 5. A first strain gage 7 and a second strain gage 9 are attached to the input rod 3. A third strain gage 11 and a fourth strain gage 13 are attached to the output rod 5. A test piece 19 is sandwiched between the input rod 3 and the output rod 5. The input rod 3 and the output rod 5 are set at a length of 1500 to 2500 mm. The first strain gage 7 is attached in a position of 750 to 1100 mm from the rear end 15 of the input rod 3.
