PURPOSE: To provide a method for detecting a musty smelling substance in a sample with high sensitivity according to simple operations. ;CONSTITUTION: This recombinant vector contains an operator/promoter region in a cam operon and a reporter gene which is a gene, inserted into the downstream side of the region and receiving the control of the region and capable of detecting the expression thereof. This microorganism is transformed with the recombinant vector and capable of inducing or suppressing the expression of the gene inserted into the downstream side of the operator/promoter region with the musty smelling substance. Furthermore, this musty smell sensor comprises the microorganism and the method for detecting the musty smell comprises bringing a liquid or a gas which may contain the musty smell into contact with the microorganism and detecting the expression of the reporter gene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
