PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve labor saving of changing work for a wire rope as well as to easily attach and detach an auxiliary hook without movement while holding the auxiliary hook and the wire rope. ;SOLUTION: In a wire rope changing device in overhanging and housing a jib, in which a boom 3 and a jib 7 are connected on the tip of the boom 3 by overhanging the jib 7 housed on the side surface of the boom 3 of a walking crane, an engaging means 60 for engaging a wire rope 21 for an auxiliary hook and turning the wire rope 21 together with the jib 1 when the jib 7 is turned in relation to the boom 3 along the axis in the longitudinal direction of the boom 3 is arranged on the tip of the jib 7.
