PURPOSE:To read recorded radiation-image information efficiently on time base and to obtain a radiation image in high S/N. CONSTITUTION:A radiation detector 30 comprises a first solid-state photodetector 31 and a scintillator 33, which is provided at the neighborhood of the solid- state photodetector 31. A second solid-state photodetector 32 having fewer pixels than pixels in the first solid-state photodetector 31 is provided at the neighborhood of the first solid-state photodetector 31 in the detector 30. Before the reading of the image information with the first solid-state photodetector 31, the image information is read out of the second solid-state photodetector 32, whose number of the pixel is smaller, and the conditions for reading the image information with the first solid-state photodetector 31 are determined.
