PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an illumination state optimum for each of various kinds of objective lenses varying in magnification of a microscope of a transmission type for bright-field viewing.;SOLUTION: The illuminator is provided with a light source (101), a collector lens (102) which approximates the divergent luminous flux emitted from the light source (101) to parallel luminous fluxes, and at least two flyeye lenses (13a and 13b) which are arranged to line up in an optical axis direction near the rear side focal plane of the collector lens (102) and are variable in the spacing from each other according to the objective lens to be used for the microscope. The illumination state optimum for both of the low power lens and the high power lens can be set if the above spacing is made smaller in using the low power lens or the spacing is made larger in using the high power lens.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
