PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a woven or knitted fabric which has an excellent tensile strength in one direction and good extensibility in the other direction, and to provide a tube substrate or tube which is used for lining the inner surface of a pipe conduit, has an excellent tensile strength in the longitudinal direction of the pipe, has good extensibility in the circumferential direction of the pipe, and can tightly be adhered to the inner surface of the pipe. SOLUTION: This woven or knitted fabric comprising inorganic or synthetic fiber materials and having discontinuous fiber portions in the longitudinal or lateral direction of the woven or knitted fabric.
