According to the present invention, there is provided a composition comprising, as an active ingredient, a bacterium capable of converting lactic acid to butyric acid, in particular, Megasfera elsdenii or Mitsuokera maltasida or a processed product thereof. By using this composition, lactic acid can be rapidly converted to butyric acid in an environment where lactic acid is abnormally accumulated.
