PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further prolong the retention time within a retention type cartridge which is packed with a filter medium, or the like, and is used for treatment of drinking water, by placing baffle plates inside a vessel that is formed by closing a shell with a cover and a bottom member, each provided with a liquid passage port, boring through-holes in each of the baffle plates, circumferentially placing shrouds on each of the baffle plates so as to partly blind the through-holes and covering each of the shrouds with a cover plate, in such a cartridge.;SOLUTION: In this cartridge, a vessel 4 is formed by closing a shell 1 with a bottom member 2 and a cover 3, both of which are provided with liquid passage ports 21 and 31, respectively, and inside the vessel 4, an appropriate number of baffle plates 5 each formed so as to have such a shape and dimensions that the baffle plate 5 can be fitted into the shell 1, and normally a disklike shape, are placed. Each of the baffle plates 5 is used for subjecting a liquid to be treated which passes through the vessel 4, to primary damming, and in each of the baffles plates 5, an appropriate number of through-holes 51 each consisting of a small hole are bored. The through-holes 51 are used for passing the liquid to be treated which is dammed by one of the baffle plates 5, through the baffle plate 5 from its one side to the other opposite side at a very low flow rate and the shape of each of the through-holes 51 can optionally be determined. An appropriate number of shrouds 52 are circumferentially placed on each of the baffle plates 5 so as to partly blind the through-holes 51, and also, a cover plate 53 is fitted to each of the shrouds 52 to cover it. By using functions of the shrouds 52 and such cover plates 53, the liquid flow rate passing through each 6f the baffle plates 5 can further be restricted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
