PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the shifting of position generated following the overrun amount when the plate cylinder is stopped and improve the stop position accuracy of the plate cylinder. ;SOLUTION: A plate cylinder stop control device is provided with a sensor 53 sensing the clamping position of a plate cylinder 2, an encorder 54 generating pulse signals in compliance with the number of revolutions of the plate cylinder 2 based on the clamping position sensed by the sensor 53 as a reference, a pulse counting section 51e counting the number of pulses of the pulse signals generated by the encorder 54, a stop position pulse counting section 51c counting the overrun amount generated when the plate cylinder 2 is stopped on desired stop positions as the number of pulses of pulse signals generated by the encorder 54 and a stop position computing section 51d computing the stop positions for stopping the plate cylinder 2 on the desired stop positions based on the difference between the number of pulses on the stop positions of the plate cylinder 2 when the overrun amount is not generated and the number of pulses of pulse signals computed by the stop position pulse counting section 51c, and when the number of pulses computed by the pulse counting section 51c conforms to the number of pulses of the stop positions computed by the pulse position computing section 51d, the plate cylinder 2 is stopped.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
