PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent impairment of grinding performance caused by penetration of an adhesive into pores when fixing abrasive grain chips each having a large number of pores by the adhesive.;SOLUTION: When manufacturing a segment type grinding wheel 10 wherein a large number of the abrasive grain chips 14 are bonded to each other by the adhesive 16 and are integrally fixed on the peripheral face of a base member 12, circumferential-direction end faces of the abrasive grain chips 14 bonded by the adhesive 16 are provided with sealing coating films 24 before the bonding by the adhesive 16, to prevent the penetration of the adhesive 16 into the pores 22. Thereby, the penetration of the adhesive 16 into the pores 22 is prevented to prevent reduction of a volume ratio of the pores 22 and generation of close structure of abrasive grain layers 14b in bonding parts (joints) of the abrasive grain chips 14. Accordingly, increase of grinding resistance and excessive impairment of autogenous action of super abrasive grains 18 are prevented.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
