PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the manufacture of a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter having the optical stability suitable for a liquid crystal display and so forth and excellent in the color purity, in which a selective reflection wavelength region of a cholesteric liquid crystal layer can be precisely and easily controlled. ;SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the cholesteric liquid crystal color filter includes a step for depositing a photopolymerizable chiral nematic liquid crystal layer 10 on an alignment substrate 1, a step for semi-curing the liquid crystal layer 10 by irradiating the liquid crystal layer 10 with a prescribed amount of ultraviolet rays 6, a step for splitting the semi-cured liquid crystal layer into a cured layer 11 and an uncured layer 12 by heating the semi-cured liquid crystal layer, and a step for curing the uncured layer 12 by again irradiating the split liquid crystal layer 10 with the ultraviolet rays, in which the selective reflection wavelength region of the chiral nematic liquid crystal layer 10 is controlled by setting the irradiation amount of the ultraviolet rays 6 with which the liquid crystal layer 10 is initially irradiated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
