PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mesh partitioning method of radiosity and its device capable of shortening a processing time and expressing shading realistically. ;SOLUTION: When drawing a crossing line between two crossing or contacting faces as a face crossing line from a three-dimensional shape model, a required face crossing line operation is performed, while imparting the direction, for example, by defining that the right side of the line is an unshaded side and the left side thereof is a shaded side. Then, the face shaded by the face crossing line is mesh-partitioned, and mesh partition is performed by demarcating into the shaded face and the unshaded face. A shaded face where at least light is not received at all among the shaded faces is determined as a complete shaded face, and operation object exclusion for excluding the complete shaded face from an operation object of shade processing is performed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
