Adaptive equalization is used to adapt filter coefficients, allowing IQ imbalance compensation and channel equalization to be achieved simultaneously in a simple and elegant manner. ;This allows complexity in analog circuitry and associated costs to be reduced at the expense of additional digital signal processing, yielding an overall economic system solution. The invention can be easily applied to existing systems, such as the DVB-T standard, without requiring changes to installed broadcasting infrastructure in order use receivers incorporating the invention.
