"COMPUTER-CONTROLLED LIDAR SYSTEM FOR SMOKE LOCATION APPLICABLE IN PARTICULAR TO EARLY FOREST FIRE DETECTION". The present invention relates to a method and system of detection and localization of forest fires at an early stage using coping. In the simplest configuration, the system includes a handle and a control computer that operates the beam scan system and performs automatic recognition of smoke indicators on the LIDAR signal on the basis of a neural network algorithm. The scanning procedure is optimized for the given topography and other features of the area under surveillance. The neuronal network is simulated or implemented as a coprocessor. To cover large areas, multiple LIDAR stations can be linked together in a network, which allows simultaneous scanning of suspicious areas by several neighboring LIDAR stations to ensure maximum efficiency and false false alarms. The system allows the detection and location of fires farther and farther than passive systems, whose sensitivity is lower.
