The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing component yarn (5) comprising a continuous component (4) and a component being spun within a rotor (3) from separated fibers (21) on a rotor-spinning machine. The rotor spinning machine work station comprises means for preparation of the separated fibers (21) from a fiber strand (2) and their transportation into the spinning rotor (3) in which the spun component is formed, wherein the work station further comprises means for feeding said continuous component (4) into the spinning rotor (3) and means for withdrawing the spun component yarn (5) and winding thereof onto a bobbin (71). A continuous component sensor (10) is introduced into the continuous component (4) path and a component yarn sensor (8) is introduced into the component yarn (5) path. Said continuous component (4) path is situated at the spot of the component yarn (5) sensor (8) at close proximity of the component yarn (5) path and at the spot where the continuous component (4) is situated in close proximity of the component yarn (5) path a continuous component sensor (10) is assigned to the continuous component (4).
