In the present invention, there is disclosed an aluminum alloy composition consisting essentially of, in weight percent: between about 0.05 and 0.5 percent silicon; an amount of iron between about 0.05 percent and up to 1.0 percent; an amount of manganese up to about 2.0 percent; less than about 0.1 percent zinc; up to about 0.10 percent magnesium; up to about 0.10 percent nickel; up to about 0.5 percent copper; between about 0.03 and 0.50 percent chromium; between about 0.03 and 0.35 percent titanium; with the balance aluminum and inevitable impurities; wherein the manganese to iron ratio is maintained between about 2.0 and about 6.0, and the amounts of chromium and titanium are controlled so that a ratio of chromium to titanium ranges between 0.25 and 2.0. The present invention further discloses an article made from the above-described aluminium alloy, particularly in the form of tubing and a heat-exchange apparatus comprising at least one tube being made of the above-indicated aluminium alloy and brazed to fin stock. There is further proposed a process for producing an aluminum alloy having corrosion resistance, wherein the alloy is melted and at least cast to a shape having the above-indicated composition. There is also proposed a process for producing a heat-exchange apparatus wherein a plurality of tubes, being produced from the above-described aluminium alloy, is brazed to fin stock.
