A railway transport arrangement comprises a railcar with bunks and stanchions fastened to a frame. The frame and bunks with supporting stanchions form a cargo space in the railcar. The transport arrangement includes transfer cage(s) arranged in the cargo space of railcar and having bottom and walls to define a cargo space in a manner enabling the transport of bulk goods having varying component or particle size in the cargo space. An independent claim is also included for a method of transporting bulk goods in railway traffic by transferring a railcar (2) with bunks and stanchions to a railcar loading area, transferring transfer cage(s) (13) into a cargo space formed by a frame (3) and bunks with supporting stanchions (6) of the railcar, transferring the railcar loaded with the transfer cage to a loading area for bulk goods, loading bulk goods into a cargo space (15) of the transfer cage, and transferring the railcar and transfer cage away from the loading area for bulk goods.
